MAX CAREY WOODTURNING TRUST

Home

A complete range of woodturning tools is available for the beginners to use and loan lathes can be arranged for practice at home.

Members of the Register of Professional Turners provide tuition together with other experienced turners.

Individuals can choose from a range of structured programmes whilst progressing at their own pace.

The Mill is equipped with 23 modern variable speed lathes providing the opportunity to try out various types and makes from micro lathes for pen making to large machines for producing 36’’ diameter bowls.

The Mill has all the necessary ancillary equipment needed including: bandsaws, drill press, sanders, dust extraction equipment and specialist hand tools.

Recognising the need to support young people, a highly successful ‘Youth Development Programme’ is run in conjunction with the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain at weekends and during school holidays. The programme is endorsed and part funded by the Worshipful Company of Turners.

Demonstrations by professional turners of National and International repute are held regularly, together with short ‘Specialist Courses’, both providing an enhanced educational experience.

The Mill is open to all and provides a convivial environment where you can develop your creative skills in a practical and rewarding way.
